Czechia has continued the trend for EV growth in 2025 after a record 2024, with the difference that in 2025 it was PHEVs that showcased the highest increase: 15,325 BEVs were registered in the country last year, up 31.6% from 2024 and accounting for 5.45% of sales; meanwhile, PHEVs reached 11,273 units, 90% more than in 2024, and accounting for 4% of sales, meaning EVs reached 9.47% market share, up from 6.61% in 2024. Registrations by type of vehicle Light passenger vehicles represent the main segment in Czechia for both BEVs and PHEVs: 13,806 BEVs and 11,033 PHEVs were registered in 2025, accounting for 5.5% and 4.4% of their respective segments. Additionally, 21 Fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) were registered in 2025. Light commercial vehicles have a market share slightly higher than passenger vehicles in the BEV segment, reaching 6.6% in 2025 with 1,342 registrations. Meanwhile, 238 PHEVs were registered that same year accounting for 1.17% registrations. Battery electric buses decreased slightly from 2024, going from 59 registrations that year to 41 in 2025, however, because the overall number of registrations also fell, market share rose from 4.4% to 5%. In this year, 2 PHEV buses and 11 FCEV buses were also registered. Battery electric trucks rose from 27 in 2024 to 136 in 2025, reaching 1.48% market share. There were no PHEV nor FCEV trucks registered in 2025. Monthly view of AF Market share of total registrations (M1) in 2025 Percentage of newly registered electric passenger cars (M1) per month compared to total registrations. New registrations and leading brands In 2025, Skoda was the brand with most registrations for new BEVs, reaching 5,259 units, followed by Tesla (1,943) and Volkswagen (848). Cumulative registrations have Skoda as the leader with 12,197 BEVs, followed by Tesla (8,658) and Volkswagen (3,850 units). Overall, 44,034 new battery electric vehicles have been registered in Czechia, alongside 32,607 new plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, through the last 25 years. Model-wise, 2025 was dominated by Skoda and Tesla, with the Skoda Elroq (BEV) leading the market for new plug-in vehicles at 2,872 registrations, followed by the Skoda Enyaq (BEV) with 2,386 and the Tesla Model Y (BEV) with 1,384. The fourth place was taken by the Skoda Kodiak (PHEV) with 1,026 registrations, and in the fifth was the Skoda Superb (PHEV) with 938 registrations. Second-hand registrations and fleet Besides the new models, Czechia is an important market for second-hand registrations: because of this, the total BEV fleet stands well above the 44 thousand new vehicles registered, reaching 62,148 BEVs as of December 31st, 2025. If we account for second-hand registrations, Skoda further increases its lead over Tesla in 2025, accounting for 5,127 and 1,944 respectively (and, again, followed by Volkswagen with 847). However, Tesla still leads the country in historic terms, with 12,995 total BEV registrations, compared to 11,040 for Skoda and 6,145 for Volkswagen. Second-hand imports have been an important source of affordable electric vehicles in Czechia, and account for 29% of historic registrations, however, their importance has diminished in recent years, likely due to more affordable new BEVs arriving in the country. Second-hand BEV registrations accounted for only 9.4% of the total in 2025. Anticipated models in 2026 There are several models of importance arriving in Europe (and Czechia) in 2026, including the Toyota CH-R BEV, the Kia EV2 and the BMW iX3. However, the model with the highest expected impact in the country this year is the Skoda Epiq, an affordable compact vehicle that should help Skoda further solidify its current position as the EV leader in Czechia. Regional EV Distribution In 2025, Prague led the country as the city with the highest overall registrations, accounting for a third of the total (5,297). Following came Mlada Boleslav with 1,536 and Brno with 650. Region-wise, BEV registration is concentrated in Prague and Central Bohemia: Conclusion 2025 further cemented the growth trajectory of 2024 for electric vehicles in Czechia. The arrival of more competitive models in mass-market segments in 2026 as well as the continued support from the Czech Government mean that this year is likely to further continue this trend as EV adoption further rises in the country.
