EAFO News Flash The European Alternative Fuels Observatory (EAFO) has updated its latest preliminary data for EU27 covering August 2026. Battery-electric vehicle (BEV) registrations reached 182,548, representing 31.0 % of new registrations. Public recharging infrastructure increased to 1,159,838 points, +13.6 % compared with August 2025. BEV registrations YoY change BEV market share Charging YoY growth 182,548 +50.8% 31.0% +13.6% Across the 13 reporting EU Member States, BEV registrations increased by 50.8% year on year in August 2026. France recorded the strongest relative growth at +112.8%, with registrations increasing from 16,989 to 36,159. Finland followed at +76.5%, Germany at +75.4% and the Czech Republic at +74.0% compared to last year. Germany recorded the highest absolute volume among the countries shown, reaching 68,980 registrations. All 13 reporting markets recorded year-on-year growth, ranging from 6.8% in Ireland to 112.8% in France.
