Identification Registration Repository

Facilitating cross-border cooperation through unique identification codes for Europe's EV charging ecosystem.

What is the IDRR?

The Identification Registration Repository (IDRR) is an information source providing the contact details of all Identification Registration Organisations (IDROs) in the EU. These IDROs are responsible for issuing unique identification codes to eMobility Service Providers (eMSPs), Charge Station Owners (CSOs) or Charge Point Operators (CPOs). These IDs can be used to ensure consistent identification across borders for the purposes of billing, roaming and data exchange.

The purpose of IDs

E-mobility ID codes issued by the national IDROs consist of a two-character national country code prefix, followed by three characters to uniquely identify the organisation applying for the code. These unique e-mobility ID codes for organisations that manage publicly-accessible recharging stations or offer publicly-accessible recharging services are used to facilitate the identification of these organisations in international billing operations and international data exchange operations. These codes can form the basis for industry actors to create unique identifiers for EV driver contracts and recharging infrastructure, so that it can be possible to locate and use recharging services throughout the EU, reliably.

Objectives of the IDRR

The objectives of the IDRR are:

  1. to promote and support standardisation of ID issuing and management practices for CPOs and eMSPs within the EU e-mobility ecosystem.
  2. to support eMobility Service Providers and Charge Station Operators in obtaining a national e-mobility ID code.

It will achieve this by:

  • Providing a directory of national IDRO contact information, thereby simplifying the CPO's and eMSP's task when locating and engaging with its national IDRO.
  • Providing guidance and white paper documents pertaining to the issuing, management and recommended use of IDRO-issued IDs.
