France Sees Surge in Electric Vehicle Registrations in March 2024

France March 2024

March 2024 witnessed a significant increase in electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle registrations in France, totaling 53,239 units and claiming a 24.5% share of the automotive market. This surge signifies the crossing of a significant threshold, with over 1.7 million such vehicles now in circulation across the nation.

The first quarter of 2024 showed a continued positive trend, with a 16.5% rise in the registration of electrified vehicles compared to the same period last year. This uptick indicates a growing consumer shift towards more sustainable forms of transportation, supported by public incentives.

Despite the positive trend, industry experts advise caution as the cessation of bonuses for corporate entities may affect future market dynamics. However, the introduction of new vehicle models and sustained individual consumer interest continue to drive market growth.

The European Alternative Fuels Observatory (EAFO) monitors these developments closely, providing data and insights essential for the promotion of zero-emission mobility in line with the EU Green Deal.
