Italy’s Ministry of Business and Made in Italy has announced the reopening of the “Bonus Colonnine” — the national incentive scheme supporting the purchase and installation of home electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. This new application window will run from April 29 to May 27, 2025, allowing eligible individuals to apply for reimbursements related to installations completed in 2024.
Eligible Period and Beneficiaries
The scheme applies retroactively to installations completed between January 1 and December 31, 2024, and specifically benefits those domestic users who were unable to submit their application during the previous round of funding.
Eligible beneficiaries include:
- Natural persons resident in Italy
- Condominium groups, represented either by a building administrator or a delegated resident
Application Process
Applications for the 2024 contribution cycle must be submitted online via the Invitalia portal, the agency tasked with managing the incentive on behalf of the Ministry.
- Opening date: April 29, 2025, at 12:00 CET
- Closing date: May 27, 2025, at 12:00 CET
The rules and procedures for grant allocation are outlined in the Ministerial Decree of June 12, 2024.
Policy Context
The Bonus Colonnine is one of several tools supporting Italy’s broader transition to electric mobility, aiming to strengthen private charging infrastructure, reduce range anxiety, and stimulate demand for battery electric vehicles (BEVs). With the national BEV fleet now approaching 300,000 vehicles, the availability of reliable, home-based charging solutions is increasingly essential.
By reactivating this funding opportunity, the Italian government is offering a concrete signal of support to private EV owners and condominiums, encouraging continued investment in clean mobility solutions.
