Purchase subsidies

Under the national Electromobility Promotion Scheme, Cyprus provides financial support for the purchase of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), co-financed by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility and REPowerEU. The scheme remains active until mid-2026.

Main grant amounts:

  • €9,000 for the purchase of a new BEV for private use, with a maximum eligible vehicle price of €80,000 (VAT included).
  • €9,000 for the purchase of a used BEV, provided it is ≤ 3 years old, EU-registered, and meets battery and recall requirements.
  • €15,000 for new light commercial BEVs (≤ 3.5t).
  • €20,000 for: BEVs registered as taxis (with mandatory 5-year retention),

BEVs purchased by persons with disabilities, BEVs purchased by large families (minimum four dependents). Additional scrapping incentive: €7,500 if an old internal combustion vehicle is scrapped and replaced with a new low-emission vehicle emitting ≤ 50 g CO₂/km. This applies to plug-in hybrids and not to BEVs, which are already covered by fixed grants. Key conditions: Grants are available to both individuals and legal entities (up to 20 applications per entity per category).

Vehicles must be registered in the applicant’s name and retained for at least 2 years (or 5 years for social support categories).

The scheme ends no later than 31 December 2025 for grant payments under the current call.
